Continuing research on the Peek Family.   There is someone looking for information on the siblings of Nancy PEEK, who married Joel Benjamin Brewer in Paulding Co., GA in 1849.   Joel was ordinary judge in Polk County for 25 years.  Nancy Peek died ca 1870.   Researcher is Claudette Rollins posted at Polk County, Georgia AHGP brick walls on 10/17/2002.

6.  HILLARY MERCER3 CRABB (ENOCH2, ASA1) was born November 01, 1804 in Columbia Co., GA, and died September 08, 1876 in Madison Co., TX.  He married (1) ROSANNAH GWINN February 19, 1824 in Upson County, Georgia.  He married (2) MARY L. PROCTOR December 29, 1858 in Walker County, TX.

 

Notes for HILLARY MERCER CRABB:

Crabb's Prairie, Texas was named for Hillary Mercer Crabb.  He served as a Judge and Texas Legislator.  He settled on the land in the 1830's, which is now part of Walker County, Texas.  On February 11, 1835 he received title to 4,000 acres of land.   Crabb's Prairie, Texas is 7 miles Northwest of Huntsville, Texas Near the junction of State Highway 75 and Farm Road 1696.  After Texas won it's independence, newly arriving settlers gathered around Mr. Crabb's homestead.  In ca 1901 the Cook Springs Baptist Church was built in the area and a school was built near the Alexander homestead.  In 1936 Crabb's Prairie had 3 businesses, two schools, and a church and a lot of farm dwellings around the business district.  By the 1980's Crabb's Prairie had one business and a Baptist Church.     Students attended school in Huntsville, Texas.
